There are moments in our lives when the difficulties we face can feel too much and this can create anxiety. We feel like we can’t manage them alone, even with partners, relatives or friends.
Counselling can offer the opportunity to unburden ourselves and explore our issues in a supportive, confidential environment. Sharing our feelings, being really heard and accepted can enable a deeper understanding of ourselves and other people. Over time, the process can become a way to unearth our innate potential and discover future possibilities.
Counselling can be empowering, life changing and at times very challenging! I am humbled to be a part of each individual’s journey through growing awareness and change. Part of every counsellor’s training is to take a good look at their own lives, examining themselves and their approach to life, sifting through their own patterns of behaviour and working out what is and isn’t serving them well. I hope that together we can do the same for you. Counsellors are not experts in you, we come to sessions as equals giving you the non-judgemental space you need to enable change. I believe that deep down we already know the answers and have the solutions but maybe we could all do with a hand now and then to reach them and to filter out the noise.
I chose to train as an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor focusing on integrating Person-Centred, Existential,Humanistic and Intercultural approaches.
I completed my clinical hours working for The Fountain Centre before moving into private practice. It has been my privilege to have worked with people from all walks of life, all stages of life and from many different cultures, sometimes working through trauma, low self-esteem, bereavement, panic disorder, loss or trauma, often suffering from generalised anxiety disorder or depression but always with a sense that life could feel better for them if they could shift their perspective.
For me, more important than the modality of counselling used is the therapeutic relationship we will endeavour to build together and it is likely to be the most important factor in your growth and change. Having a safe space where you can start to face things honestly and openly without fear of judgement can be a good foundation to change.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists which means that not only do I adhere to their code of ethics but you can be assured that I have received quality training and continue to develop my practice through CPD and supervision.
Since qualifying I have focused my continuing professional development on couples and young people counselling along with anxiety, depression and self-harm.
I am a Person Centered Counsellor and Psychotherapist and can offer you that safe space where you will be met with empathy, respect and genuineness as we explore your journey together.
I offer short to long term psychotherapy, counselling and coaching to individuals and work with people experiencing a broad range of issues and worries.
I believe we are all unique and have the resources within us to grow, develop and change.
